The Curated Ear

The Curated ear is the hottest thing to hit Instagram since Kale and acai bowls. At Hairhouse, we offer Curated ear styling services in one sitting or through a pre-planned ‘fitting’ where we work with you to determine your long-term piercing goals. Alternatively, you may choose for us to dress some pre-existing holes and some new piercings made to compliment them.

Anti-Tragus Piercing

Wanting something different? The anti-tragus is the little bit of cartilage next to your lobe and opposite your tragus. This piercing can be kept basic or dressed up with a stunning attachment and is a great addition to a curated look.

Conch Piercing

The conch is the smooth area that makes up the back of the ear. These piercings usually occur towards the outer edge of the conch, halfway up the ear. The jewellery options for this piercing are endless and definitely a piercing you want to have on display.

Daith Piercing

Daith piercings go through the fold of the cartilage that sits closest to the ear canal. A little lower than the rook, this area is also a contemporary way to wear a ring or keep it hidden with a curved bar once fully healed. A truly unique conversation starter!

Flat Piercing

Also known as the outer conch piercing, the flat is positioned at the flat portion of the ear, between the helix and the ridge. Recently made popular with the celebrity icons, create a design the allows you to shine.

Forward Helix Piercing

The forward helis is the part of the cartilage that has folded over the helix, sitting close to the head directly above the tragus. An Instagram-gal favourite, the helix is a beautiful area to allow subtle jewel and stud accessories to shine through.

Helix Piercing

This is the upper outer rim of the ear. A popular area to pierce along with a traditional lobe piercing, the two placements balance each other out perfectly. Helix piercings can be done anywhere along the top half of the outer ear-rim and are a much-favoured style statement for many celebrities.

Industrial Piercing

Industrial piercings are a popular cartilage piercing for guys and girls alike. At Hairhouse, you can modify and create your very own unique jewellery or keep it basic. The choice is yours. Industrial piercing is the double perforation of the upper cartilage joined with a single long piece of jewellery. As not everyone can have this piercing, a vertical industrial may be an option for you.

Inner Conch Piercing

The conch offers up many options! Piercing the inner conch is when the jewellery is placed in the centre of the ear. Although this is slightly harder to get to when piercing, the statement is truly inspired.

Traditional Lobe

Piercing is a popular starting point for adornment and a great place to begin your curated ear. The first step for first timers, a basic lobe piercing can be done anywhere on the main fleshy part of the lobe. You can experiment with the placement and number of this classic to create an unconventional look or position to match your features and enhance your lobes.

Anti-Eyebrow Piercing

Anti-Eyebrow piercings are surface piercings placed on the upper cheek below the eye. This look can be achieved using a small surface bar and are situated on the upper cheek to compliment your anatomy and follow the flow of the muscular tissue.

Eyebrow Piercing

The Eyebrow continues to prove popular for piercings. When placed vertically, an eyebrow piercing can be run along the outer edge of the eyebrow to the centre of the eye, depending on your desired look. At Hairhouse, we are happy to consult on the best approach to flatter your face and eye shape.

High Nose

High nose piercings take your adornment to the next level! The jewellery is placed a few centimetres above the natural curve of the nostril crease. Although the placement is adventurous, jewellery options are limited to studs, L-shaped pins, and nostril screws.

Horizontal Eyebrow

Horizontal Eyebrow piercings are placed parallel to the eyebrow anywhere from the outer edge to the centre of the eye depending on the look you want to achieve.

A Jestrum piercing is placed through the upper lip's philtrum directly under the nasal septum, offering a fun alternative approach to a traditional lip piercing.

Lip Ashley

A traditional take on a lip piercing, the Ashley is a piercing made through the centre of the lower lip. The piercing – usually a stud with a gemstone or charm - exits the back of the lower lip into the mouth.

Lip Labret Piercing

Piercings are those in the lower middle area of the bottom lip, just above the chin.

Medusa Piercing

Medusa piercings are placed on the top lip in the central vertical groove directly below the nose. This piercing looks fabulous with a single jewel stud or one of our stunning trinity stones.

A Monroe piercing is an homage to the beauty spot. The piercing above the upper lip, on the left-hand side.

Nasal Septum Piercing

Septum piercings travel through the tissue that separates the nostrils from the lower and upper sections of the septum. A great place to style with hoops or rings, this piercing doesn’t pass through the nasal passage cartlidge at all.

Dermal Implants

Dermal piercings are a single point piercing that can be placed in several locations on the body. They are a great addition to body art and can add some colour and bring to life your current artwork.

Floating Navel

A floating navel piercing is slightly different from a traditional naval piercing in that it is positioned deeper inside the navel. Usually worn with a barbell adornment, the piercing exits out the top of the navel similar to a traditional placement. Have fun with this one, as there are lots of options with jewellery including gemstones and charms.

Inverted Naval Piercing

Like the traditional navel piercing, an inverted navel is also a big favourite. This piercing is pierced through the lower ridge of the belly button, rather than at the top. Inverse navel piercings work best when you have a prominent 'lip' on the bottom edge of your navel, giving you the scope for displaying an extensive collection of cool jewellery.

Nape Piercing

Adornments are surface piercings placed horizontally across the back of the neck. A great look if you have short hair, our Hairhouse piercing professionals can guide you through the post-treatment instructions for a piercing that is hard to get to, but very important to care for!

Navel Piercing

Navel piercing is another big celebrity favourite for Beyoncé, Kendal Jenner, Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Kravitz and beyond. The options for placement vary, with the bar either being placed through the top of the navel with one end of the bar sitting inside the bellybutton or an inverted navel piercing is placed through the lower ridge of the bellybutton. Age restrictions do apply in this case too! See our FAQ for details.

Nipple Piercing

Nipple piercings are administered through the base of the nipple and are popular with both men and women. However, these do come with minimum age restrictions. See our FAQ section for details.

Surface Piercings

Surface piercings are any body piercings that take place on the surface of the body which are not particularly concave or convex.
